How GPS geo-fencing works

Setting up a geo-fence zone

1

Open the admin dashboard and navigate to Locations.

2

Search for your worksite address — the map centres automatically.

3

Draw or define the permitted radius — 50 metres to several kilometres.

4

Assign employees or departments to this zone.

5

Set zone-specific rules: permitted clock-in hours, manager alerts, overtime policies.

When an employee clocks in

Employee opens app → GPS coordinates checked against permitted zone → If inside: clock-in logged with timestamp and photo. If outside: attempt blocked, manager alerted instantly with employee name, location, and timestamp.

Multi-site companies

Configure unlimited geo-fence zones — one per outlet, site, or office. All sites visible simultaneously on one manager dashboard with live attendance status per location.

Field and outdoor staff

Outdoor duty mode for engineers, delivery drivers, and sales staff — GPS still logged on every clock-in, giving location visibility without restricting movement to one fixed zone.

Six key capabilities

Draw zones on a map

Visual map interface in the admin dashboard. Set radius per zone — 50m for a single office, 500m for a large site.

Blocks out-of-zone attempts

Clock-in is rejected if GPS coordinates fall outside the permitted radius. Not just flagged — blocked.

GPS logged on every punch

Each clock-in records precise GPS coordinates. Dispute resolution is a location record lookup — not a debate.

Unlimited multi-site zones

No limit on number of zones. A retail group with 12 outlets has 12 independent zones. All visible on one dashboard.

Manager alerts for out-of-zone

Instant push notification when an employee attempts to clock in from an unauthorised location.

Field & outdoor staff mode

Outdoor duty mode allows clock-in without a fixed geo-fence. GPS still logged — visibility without restriction.

MOM compliance note for Singapore and SEA

MOM requires employers to maintain accurate attendance records showing where and when each employee worked. GPS-logged clock-ins provide an immutable, timestamped location record that satisfies MOM audit requirements in Singapore and equivalent requirements under Malaysia's Employment Act, Thailand's Labour Protection Act, and Indonesian labour regulations.

TimeCentral retains these records for 7 years with one-click audit export in the format required by each country's labour regulator.
